news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelook…Every year, nay every day, there are ignorant people bickering about pointless things. It just happens to peak at around Christmas time. Yes, I mean Christians v. Atheists. So apparently, a church put up a billboard that says "You know it's real. This season, celebrate Jesus." In response, a group of Atheists put up a billboard saying "You know its a myth. This season, celebrate reason." I'm an atheist myself, but I'm not taking any side in this battle. Both parties are wrong. No, I don't know it's real because religion is subjective and I don't believe in God and whatever. But I also strongly disagree with the way atheists are treating this controversy. I don't believe either side should be putting up billboards forcing their ideas on the public. Religion is man-made and subjective. People should believe or question what they want and leave others out of it. Besides, Christmas isn't really even about the birth of Jesus Christ. It's about the deeper themes embedded within the story that people tend to overlook or forget due to the economic side of things--the presents, the gift wrapping, the sales. Christmas is really supposed to be a celebration of the themes found in the stories of the Bible. It is about happiness, hope, peace, integrity. People, including Christians and other religious types, who are distracted by the gifts, superficial understanding, and close-mindedness are clearly missing the point, not to mention holding back humanity. Don't celebrate Jesus or reason. This year, celebrate compassion.
